Today we replaced the prop from a 4 blade Max prop to a 3 blade in hope that our issues or odd noises will be resolved. We also took the time to scrub the bottom and replace the zincs on the drive shaft. It took all day but we where able to get it done and not have to pay additional fees for leaving Dragonbane on land over night.

Hopefully if the weather is in our favor we will set sail tomorrow for the “DR” aka Dominican Republic.  It is about 160 nautical miles from our current location at the ship yard in Turks and Caicos. I will try and post my sailing progress as we go via SSB radio and let you all know how it is going out in the ocean. Also I found out that the hump back whales are in birthing season down here and we should be seeing a lot of them as we go. I will try and get some pictures if we do.

Thanks,

Jacques

  1. Jacques and Dale-The boat looks great. Let us know if the new prop helps. Also, was it necessary to repair the bottom from getting dragged over the sandbar ?

    • Yes, the prop was a very good thing to change. The engine now meets the right RPM and we go faster at lower RPM’s then the 4 blade. But the cutless is still making noise WTF!

Jacques , you are living proof of the acronym B O A T . Break out another $1000. Joe is stopping by to visit tomorrow night. We are excited we haven’t seen him since summer. I hope you see more whales than we saw 2 years ago. Our cruise ship stopped in Samana DR in early February and we went whale watching. 3 hours in the hot sun. Naturally our skiff was the only one without a bimini top. A whole bunch of boats and all we saw was one dorsal fin and very litte of that. Sail safe!

    • Yeah we finally made it and I did not see any whales yet! Say hi to Joe for me and I wish you all well. O yeah, I am the poster child for Bust out another Thousand!
